Taylor & Sons Ltd were awarded this contract by Jackson Civil Engineering on behalf English Partnerships to manufacture and install eight stainless steel penstocks including an electrical control system, two pairs of timber mitre gates, a steel bridleway
The penstocks and the gates were for the four main controls structure positioned around the scheme. All penstocks were made and installed by Ham Baker Ltd. The mitre gates main frame and panels were manufactured from Ekki Grade D60 tropical hardwood in ac
Taylor & Sons ensured that an early relationship was built with Jackson Civil Engineering site management team to ensure the coordination of the multi-disciplinary installation teams fitted with the main site programme.
This was further hampered by large scale flooding over the winter period which called for close management of the installation crews and constant re-programming of site visits.
